Chamblee Homes

Neighborhood Info. As far as Atlanta real estate is concerned, you could hardly find a more reasonably priced close in area than Chamblee. Inside the "Perimeter" (I-285 beltway), Chamblee real estate is positioned just a few miles north of Buckhead. With ease of access to all of Atlanta intown's businesses, amenities and conveniences by car or the city's MARTA mass transit system, this area has become quite popular. And if commuting by air is important to you, you will find yourself minutes from DeKalb Peachtree Airport.

You will hear many different languages as you walk the streets of Chamblee, Georgia. An ever popular area for shopping, there are hundreds of international markets, restaurants and groceries. The Chamblee visitor's guide will reiterate you're in the most international city in the south.

Chamblee has grown from being a small Southern rail stop into an ethnically diverse and progressive city. It is one of eight located within DeKalb County. In the 1980s, as large manufacturing sites downsized or closed, Chamblee's tax base declined and its population dwindled. Refugees and immigrants began moving into the many neighborhoods along Buford Highway and in Chamblee, attracted by affordable housing. To accommodate the new arrivals, the Chamblee City Council created the International Village overlay zoning, enabling mixed-use development and livable, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods. Buford Highway and the International Village area became the site of significant redevelopment efforts. Chamblee also designated a Central Business District to preserve the history of the city.
